Dune Haus

Dune Haus is an oceanfront cottage in Salvo, NC — a quiet stretch of Hatteras Island on North Carolina’s Outer Banks, with Cape Hatteras National Seashore as the backyard. Private beach access, a hot tub, a cargo lift for groceries and gear, and a setting where Salvo’s world-class kiteboarding and surfing are minutes away.

✔ Sleeping accommodations
4 bedrooms total. Main level Bedroom 1 has a king bed, private bathroom with large custom shower (2 showerheads), and a private balcony. Lower level Bedroom 1 has a king bed with a private full bath and French doors to the lower deck. Lower Bedroom 2 has two twin beds. Lower Bedroom 3 has two bunk beds (4 beds). Nearly all mattresses are brand-new memory foam. Each bedroom has its own 32” Roku TV.

✔ Cargo lift
An electric lift handles groceries and luggage from ground level to the main level (3/4 bedrooms) or upper level (kitchen + main bedroom). Groceries and luggage only. Control box is on the ground level, near the lift.

Restoration Hardware dining table and chairs, Restoration Hardware sofa, Moe’s Modern leather sofa, Nags Head Hammocks chairs throughout. Granite counters, gas range, stainless appliances. High-speed mesh Wi-Fi network.

Shampoos, toiletries, most condiments, zip locks, and coffee. Bring your own k-cups or ground coffee.

✔ Water sports
Salvo is one of the top kiteboarding and surfing destinations in the world. Within a one-minute drive, rent equipment at Real Watersports or Hatteras Watersports for sound-side play. Jet skis, paddleboard, kayak rentals all nearby.

✔ Entertainment
High-speed Wi-Fi mesh network, 55” Roku TV in the main living area, 32” Roku TVs in all 4 bedrooms. Roku guest mode logs you out of all services at checkout.

✔ Gas fireplace
Available during non-spring/summer months only (September–April). Switch is to the left of the fireplace. Only run when seated in the family room — it generates significant heat.

✔ Outdoor fire pit
Keep logs within the stone pit and do not stack above the stones. No oversized fires. Fires outside the pit are not permitted.

✔ Beach accessories
Beach cart, chairs, and toys are in the yard closet. Please return the cart after use — replacement costs are the guest’s responsibility if lost or stolen.

✔ Hot tub & lawn care
Routine hot tub maintenance by Ripple Pools & Spas and lawn care by John Parker occur every few days and every other weekend respectively. Crews will let themselves in to do their thing — just a heads-up.

✔ Sand
Please use the outdoor shower or cold foot rinse before entering the home or the hot tub.

✔ Heat / AC
Do not set A/C below 72°F or heat above 70°F — heat pump systems can freeze up. Two thermostats: one upstairs, one downstairs. Morning sun through the wall of windows will warm the family room in summer; lowering the thermostat further won’t help. Close the blinds and sunroom door if needed.

✔ Parking
Limited to 4 vehicles in the driveway only. No parking on the road or grass. Illegally parked vehicles are subject to towing at the owner’s expense.

✔ Laundry
On the lower level, up one flight of stairs from the ground.

✔ Wildlife & pests
The Outer Banks is home to a great variety of birds. Expect occasional beetles and palmetto bugs — we have monthly pest control to keep occurrences minimal.

Guest access

Entire oceanfront home and property. Private beach access through the fenced yard and gate, across Cape Hatteras National Seashore dune to the ocean.

Good to know

➜ Check-in is at 4pm, check-out is at 10am. Late check-out results in a minimum $150 fee. Early check-in depends on prior-stay and maintenance scheduling.

➜ No refunds for weather, power outages, or other incidents outside our control. We recommend trip insurance.

➜ Use of all features — stairs, hot tub, fireplace, appliances, and grounds — is at the guest’s sole risk. By booking, guests agree to the full waiver and release of liability.

➜ Home stocked with starter supplies; supplement as needed for your stay.

➜ Please be respectful of the home, neighbors, and the Salvo community. Quiet hours are 9:00pm–8:00am.
