Londonderry & Manchester, Vermont
Southern Vermont
Deerwood Hill sits on 3.6 private acres in the Green Mountains, in South Londonderry, within a short drive of six ski resorts. It’s a winter house first — Stratton, Bromley, and Magic are all close, and the cabin is built for the end of a cold day on the mountain — but the valley is quietly good the rest of the year, too.
The rhythm we’d suggest: ski hard, then come down into Londonderry or over to Manchester for dinner. Manchester is the town for a proper night out — Northshire Bookstore, real restaurants, and outlet shopping if that’s your thing. Closer to home, Rawsonville Marketplace is right down the road for anything you forgot, and Dutton Farmstand is the maple-creemee stop on the way back.
Everything below is where we point guests. A few of these — the farm, the lake — are still on our own list, and we’ve said so.
The mountains
Six resorts sit within reach of the cabin. These are the three we ski.
